Starburst Airs aerated gummies were developed as part of a strategy for line extension through texture variation for the Starburst brand. The goal was to create products that extended the Starburst brand through new products and novel textural experiences.
The Starburst Airs aerated gummie design, including overall shape, size, embossed Starburst ‘S-drop’ , color and sanding were designed to speak Starburst, resonate with consumers, and fit squarely within established feasibility, efficiency, and quality guidelines.
Starburst Airs aerated gummies were developed in different flavor ranges, including sour sanded gummies.
The gummie was designed to ensure the embossed Starburst ‘S-drop’ would translate through production preserving the Starburst brand equity across formats.
All design, development, engineering, consumer testing and pre-pilot scale-up were done internally, working closely with cross-functional teams to preserve the balance between Desirability, Feasibility and Viability.
As part of the introduction of Starburst Airs, immersive consumer experiences were created, generating consumer engagement and brand awareness beyond product.
